With a knack for brushes and charming personality that instantly reels you in, we can’t help but adore celebrity makeup artist Claudio Riaz. Gracing Barneys New York in Scottsdale for a quick visit, we met up with this charismatic brush designer to uncover the secrets to looking younger with the right makeup application.
Perched on a pedestal in the middle of Barneys’ beauty lounge, head Spa Girl Lisa Kasanicky was the lucky pick for a full-face makeover. With two Spa Girls in tow, plenty of wine and Claudio working his magic and charm, the scene unfolded first with a lesson in [...]

Here’s a funny bit of trivia: Q-Tips were originally called Baby Gays. Heh. Marketed by a baby accessories company in the 1920s, the company eventually dropped the merry moniker and opted instead for the more descriptive Q-Tips name. Practically an American institution, the product hasn’t changed much since it first hit the market. Even the packaging hasn’t strayed much from the original. You’ve got your standard economy pack, vanity pack and the purse pack (perfect for travel). But keep an eye out for a groovy new twist on packaging coming soon to a store near you. The company has introduced [...]

Where oh where have these tweezers been all my life? After years of wielding the same rather dull pair of tweezers as a beauty weapon against gnarly brows (the same tweezers used for extracting cactus needles from the spa dog’s paws and various other household emergencies), I finally broke down and got a new pair. And darn glad I did because now I can tweeze anytime, anywhere with exact precision. I know, sounds a little dangerous but I live on the edge. So my new Diamond Tip Lighted Tweezers from Sally Hansen La Cross have, as the name implies, tiny [...]

A razor is just a razor, right? Not when it comes with five blades and a swivel head that rides over curves and contours without nicking your skin. The new Venus Embrace from Gillette takes the daily shave to the next level for smoother hair-free skin minus the cuts and nicks. Tired of the rather uninspiring, bordering-on-dangerous shave of my cheapy pink disposable, I gave the Embrace a whirl and was truly delighted with my latest investment. According to the packaging, the five curve-hugging blades are positioned closely together and spring-mounted to create a shaving surface that adjusts to the [...]

I’m feeling chatty today. I think it’s because I’m still on a high after finally catching a really good flick yesterday. Go see Slumdog Millionaire. It’s so good. That’s all I’ll say because I knew nothing about it before I went and it was such a joy watching the story unfold without the media barrage spoiling all the good scenes. So since I’m all talkative and it’s entirely too early to wake the spa boy from his deep and snoring slumber, I’ll spill on another favorite beauty item. Diane Aiello, the owner of Glam Lounge and beauty and fashion stylist, [...]
