Bring out your Southern belle glow with this gentle face and body scrub.
We got this nitty gritty scrub recipe from HollyBeth Anderson, creator of HollyBeth’s Natural Luxury, our new pick for certified organic body, face and home essentials. Her famous Southern style scrub comes straight from her Atlanta product kitchen and was originally used by her mother and grandmother to slough away parched skin with grainy grits and stave off future dryness with natural hydrators like honey, oil and vitamin E.
Here’s what you need:
- 1/2 cup organic honey
- 1/4 cup grits or medium ground cornmeal (replace with oatmeal for less exfoliation)
- 1 vitamin E capsule
- 1 teaspoon organic sweet almond oil (substitute with olive or jojoba oil if you don’t have sweet almond on hand)
Here’s what you do:
Pour grits, honey and oil into a medium-sized bowl. Break open the vitamin E capsule and squeeze liquid into the mix. With a large spoon, stir ingredients together until you have a thick paste. To use, drench skin with water in the bath or shower and gently apply to body and face with gentle, circular motions. Stash leftover in a sealed container and keep in fridge to ensure freshness.
