Cellulite is a real pain in the booty, literally. The good news is that there are easy, natural ways to reduce its appearance. Indie Lee, founder of the all-natural skincare line Indie Lee & Co, is a natural ingredients advocate, who devoted her life to educating consumers on the dangerous contaminants that consume our lives. She graciously shared one of her DIY recipes for an all-natural scrub containing her favorite ingredient: coffee! The caffeine in coffee works to dehydrate fat cells and when broken down, acts as a natural exfoliant.
A perfect home spa treatment to use before you slip on that bathing suit, this cellulite body scrub is suitable for most skin types but test it on an inconspicuous place on your body first (like the inside of your forearm) if you have allergy concerns.
Here’s what you need:
- 1/2 ounce of sweet almond oil
- 2 tablespoons coffee grounds (espresso or dark roast)
- 5 tablespoons coconut oil
- 3/4 cup of arrowroot powder (a natural alternative to talc powder)
Here’s what you do:
First, combine the coffee grounds and sweet almond oil in a large bowl and mix. Add the coconut oil to the mixture and mix well. Fold in the arrowroot powder and make sure all the coconut clumps are gone. Finally, jump in the shower and massage the coffee body scrub mixture all on the areas where you would like to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Rinse and once you dry off, slather on body lotion.
