Surviving triple-digit Arizona summers can be tough. No matter how many tank tops you own, smoothies you sip and low you crank down the air, there’s no getting around the sweaty, scorching heat. Bringing relief to Arizona by teaming up with some of the best spa venues spotting our very own backyard, the annual Summer Spaaah Series is back for its fifth year with seven events bigger, better and more luxurious than ever. Benefiting Fresh Start Women’s Foundation and bringing business to local spas during the off-season, the Summer Spaaah Series is the perfect excuse for locals and brave visitors to escape the heat in the spirit of charity.
The 2010 series kicks off on April 2 at Sanctuary Spa at Camelback Mountain then takes spa-goers on a tour of Arizona’s top spa destinations with different events each month. The series spans from April to September making stops at Revive Spa at JW Marriott Desert Ridge, Spa Avania at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale, Dolce Salon & Spa at the Borgata, VH Spa for Vitality + Health at Hotel Valley Ho, Golden Door at The Boulders Resort and Joya Spa at InterContinental Montelucia Resort.
Events include a Friday evening open house featuring a vodka bar provided by 44 North Vodka. Spa-goers will leave with gift bags valued at more than $200 and stuffed with a $100 Ganem Jewelers gift card, a commemorative T-shirt and a voucher for a private 50 or 60-minute spa treatment valid within 30 days following the event. Events and bags will also feature swag from a full lineup of event sponsors including 44 North Vodka, NewBeauty Magazine, AZ Magazine, Ganem Jewelers, LATHER, NailEZEE, Revolution Tea 3D, Metromint, DoCo Chamuse, Zenergy Yoga and a few surprises. Other sponsors include the Executive Women’s Golf Association of Phoenix, Lublu Lifestyle Photography and North Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce.
At the heart of the series is the mission to unite spa destinations with local residents and help out a great cause. Since 2006, the Summer Spaah Series has been named the Phoenix New Times “Best Way to Get Pampered For a Good Cause” and received numerous awards from International Festivals and Events Association-endorsed APS AzTEC Awards including 2007 Event of the Year (for events under 20K participants). The event has raised more than $45,000 for Fresh Start Women’s Foundation, a Phoenix-based organization that assists women in transition.
This year, the Series is set to raise even more money for Fresh Start and shake up lazy summer months with a dose of added luxury. “The 2010 series is our most exciting yet,” said Lisa Kasanicky, founder of ArizonaSpaGirls.com and cofounder of the series. “Besides adding value and elevating the experience to a whole new level for our guests, we’ve also managed to make this an income-generating opportunity for Valley spas during their off-season months making it a win-win for all involved.”
“Fresh Start Women’s Foundation is thrilled to have been chosen as beneficiary of the Arizona Spa Girls’ Summer Spaaah Series,” said Debbie Simons, VP of Strategic Marketing and National Development for Fresh Start. “This partnership is a natural fit because of our mission of women helping women. By participating in Spaaah Series events, women get the chance to not only promote their own beauty from within, but to help our Fresh Start women at the same time.”
