Three easy DIY facial masks that nourish, hydrate and tighten skin.
When it comes to keeping wrinkles to a minimum, liberal use of sunscreen and healthy lifestyle habits are your first defense. Your second line of defense is a daily moisturizer that works with your skin type and keeps skin hydrated and protected. Third in line is the occasional facial mask to give skin a healthy boost of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. If a pricey spa facial isn’t in your budget, these three easy anti-aging facial masks will help do the trick!
Be sure to cleanse and gently exfoliate before applying a mask and always follow up with a sunscreen during the day or a moisturizing cream at night. Oh, and have fun!
Nourishing Banana Facial Mask
Bananas are high in vitamin A and antioxidants. Yogurt helps to kick away dead skin cells. Honey is naturally moisturizing and nourishing. Together, these three ingredients revive skin while giving it a boost of hydration.
Here’s what you need:
- ½ ripe banana
- 3 tablespoons yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of honey
Here’s what you do:
Using a fork, mash the banana into a smooth paste. Mix in the yogurt and honey. Warm the mixture just a bit in a saucepan and apply the mask on your face and neck and leave it at least 10 minutes.
Moisture Surge Honey Facial Mask
Honey is a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture into the skin. Add a dash of revitalizing orange juice and give skin a dose of natural refreshment.
Here’s what you need:
- 1 teaspoon honey
- ¼ of a fresh orange
Here’s what you do:
In a small bowl, mix the honey with a squeeze of orange juice. Apply to a clean face and neck and leave it on for up to 20 minutes.
Skin Tight Cucumber Facial Mask
The soothing cuke is packed with vitamins and phytonutrients and hydrates skin like nobody’s business. This easy concoction helps to decrease inflammation under the eyes and give skin a natural lift.
Here’s what you need:
- ½ cucumber, peeled and cut into chunks
Here’s what you do:
In a food processor, blend cucumber chunks until smooth. Pour the mixture into a strainer over a bowl to separate the juice. Apply the cucumber juice on clean skin, including around the eyes and jawbone, and allow it to dry.
