Host a no fuss, no muss, no guys, home spa party.
Single and dreading the year’s gushiest holiday? Why not spaaah the singled-out holiday away with a relaxing, girls-only spa party at home? Instead of spending time and moola getting all dolled up for a date, get the gals together for a rejuvenating date at home. Soothing spa treatments + a chick flick + a cocktail (or two) + your favorite gal pals = a no fuss, no muss, no guys, spa night at home! Here’s our recipe for a fun date night with the girls.
Treatments to Make
First, you need something to feed the spirit. Gather in the kitchen and guide the girls through making one or all of these home spa beauty recipes:
As the host, you’ll need small glass jars for everyone to take home their body scrub (jam jars work just fine), wax or craft paper to wrap the soaps and small gift bags for stashing homemade beauty balms. Have red and pink ribbons available for the gals to embellish their goodies and the recipes printed on pretty paper so they can make them again.
Drinks
Next, this occasion definitely calls for a cocktail! A few of our favorite Spa Girl soothers:
- Pink Angel from POM Wonderful
- Raspberry and Rose Petal Punch
Nosh
Of course, soul-soothing food is a must (doh!). Go for the lively flavors of a Mediterranean theme, followed by cupcakes of course. Try these recipes:
- Smoked Salmon Tarama with Pita Chips
- Garlicky Greek Salad (embrace the garlic breath!)
- Hummus and Vegetable Lahvash Sandwiches
- Red Velvet Cupcakes (although for this occasion, I would call them Eat Your Heart Out cupcakes)
Flicks
Finally, have a few classic chick flicks playing in the background while you craft and eat. “Pretty Woman,” “Bridget Jones’ Diary,” “Sex and the City” … The possibilities are endless! However, save the tear-jerkers for another day and go for a light-hearted romantic comedy. For something completely different, pop in a nostalgic classic like “How to Marry a Millionaire” with Marilyn Monroe for a peek back to the days when love wasn’t so complicated (or was it?).
