The quintessential salt scrub to conjure up a new you.
The sea salt in this salt scrub recipe is designed to polish your skin, increase blood circulation and stimulate lymph production to eliminate toxins, all while triggering the skin’s own natural oil secretion. The apricot kernel oil is rich in emollients and vitamins A and B that heal damaged skin, leaving your skin moisturized and smooth. You can always use olive, grape seed or safflower oil as a substitute if necessary. Happy scrubbing!
Here’s what you need:
- 2 cups coarse sea salt
- 1/4 cup apricot kernel oil
Here’s what you do:
Make a paste out of the sea salt and apricot kernel oil in a bowl. While standing in the tub or shower, gently massage the mixture onto your body in a smooth, circular motion. Apply using a firm but nonabrasive pressure, so that you affect the surface of the skin, not the underlying tissues. Focus on knees, elbows and feet and avoid sensitive areas. Rinse and follow up with a body lotion to seal in the glow. Keep any leftover salt scrub in a tightly sealed jar for up to two weeks. (Oh, and just a friendly warning, rinse your shower or tub thoroughly after using oily scrubs to avoid any slip and falls!)
