About Arizona Spa Girls

OVERVIEW

Arizona Spa Girls was launched in 2002 as a way to share girlfriend-to-girlfriend reviews of spas and salons across Arizona. The website and its team of passionate spa advocates have since become the voice for a new generation of spa-goers in touch with the notion that the spa experience is a necessary part of a healthy, fulfilling lifestyle.

We support our mission of making the spa lifestyle more accessible by digging up the insider details of spa and salon facilities so you can make practical, informed choices and by offering exclusive spa and salon specials so you can fit beauty and wellness into your budget.

With nearly 4,000 listings of health, beauty, fitness and wellness facilities throughout the state–from comfy corner beauty salons to extravagant spa retreats–we combine yellow page practicality with insider info you can’t get anywhere else. We interlace our directory information with beauty and spa product reviews, do-it-yourself home spa treatments, a lively collection of articles that span the beauty and health worlds, and helpful tips and tricks to making the most of your spa experience. Useful, entertaining and laced with sense of frivolity, ArizonaSpaGirls.com is your little pink book to looking and feeling your best!

PROJECTS

ArizonaSpaGirls.com is an information-rich, online guide to spas, salons and related beauty and wellness facilities throughout Arizona. At the heart of the website are comprehensive facility listings that include profiles, services, photos, pricing, products, driving directions and professionally written reviews. Our advantage is that we report on spas from our home turf in Arizona and are constantly updating information to be current and timely. As advocates of making the spa experience more accessible, we supplement the directory with carefully culled spa and salon discounts, home spa recipes, beauty and spa product reviews, spa cuisine recipes, and spa and salon event postings.

Summer Spaaah Series: Born in the summer of 2006 as a way to inject Arizona’s sleepy summers with a dose of fun and camaraderie while invigorating the local spa and salon industries, the Summer Spaaah Series is a Valley-wide phenomenon that unites top beauty and wellness destinations with local residents through engaging, onsite events. Each event offers refreshments, sample spa and salon services, demos, classes, activities, raffles, goody bags and a chance to tour the top-notch spas and salons that dot our landscape. The three-fold mission of the Series is to introduce local residents to Valley beauty and wellness destinations, stimulate business for local spas and salons during their off-season, and raise funds for Fresh Start Women’s Foundation — an empowering Valley-based charity that assists women in transition. SpaBound Summer Passport: An extension of our mission to advocate the spa lifestyle, the SpaBound Summer Passport is a unique print product launched in the summer of 2009 to invigorate the slumping, off-season Arizona spa industry. Part glossy, part coupon booklet, the SpaBound Summer Passport is a unique, upscale print product focused on connecting the sophisticated consumer with local beauty and wellness businesses during low season. Each page of the pocketbook-sized glossy paints an enticing picture of the Valley’s luxury spas and salons while giving consumers exclusive summer specials. The $45 retail price of the Passport includes one free mini spa treatment and an estimated $2,000 in value. More at SpaBound.net.

LISA KASANICKY, FOUNDER & CHIEF SPA GIRL

Lisa KasanickyLisa Kasanicky first discovered her passion for spas when she visited a Phoenix resort spa as a reprieve from her stressful career as technical documentation consultant. Struck by how much her whole body and attitude lightened up after just that one visit, she developed the website as a way to share useful information with an audience much like herself — women in serious need of a spa time-out.

Lisa has since developed spa guides for the Arizona Office of Tourism and for The Arizona Republic. She has served as the spa editor for Item magazine, beauty editor for East West magazine, and is a regular beauty columnist and features writer for several Phoenix-based and national publications including Healing Lifestyles & Spas and Generation Health magazines. A local on-air personality who appears regularly on the ABC Phoenix affiliate show Sonoran Living Live, she was named among the coolest people in the Valley of the Sun by Phoenix Magazine in 2008 for her work as the “Spastress.” Her first book, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Girlfriend Getaways (Alpha, 2009) is available at Amazon and other top bookstores. OUR VALUES

Relaxation and rejuvenation is not just a luxury–it’s the soul’s requirement for a life in check. That’s why ArizonaSpaGirls.com is dedicated to making personal restoration accessible. Whether you treat yourself to a $12 manicure or a $300 day package, have a week to retreat or an hour to escape, you’ll always benefit from taking time out for yourself. That’s why our directory includes everything from 3,000-square-foot resort spas to your neighborhood mom-and-pop shops. And our DIY Beauty Lab and parties ideas help sprinkle the spa experience into your everyday life.

JOURNEY IS KING

When you take care of yourself, you cannot help but become a better, friend, wife, mother, daughter, neighbor, employee, person. You already knew that, which is why you’re here! But we hope you’ll take it one step further. See, your fabulous skin and buff bod are good for nothing unless they represent your true self. ArizonaSpaGirls.com is not driven by outward vanity; instead, we are driven toward inward journey. That’s why we’ve filled our pages with great resources on jump-starting or furthering your path.

GRACE ISN’T JUST FOR SOUTHERN BELLES

Grace is for anyone who ever wished to receive kindness. Hey, that’s you! As it turns out, you’ve got to give it to get it and no SpaGirl is complete without it. ArizonaSpaGirls.com affectionately refers to this concept as your Inner Bee. Your inner bee is that place inside you (yes, we mean you) that yearns for more. It is that wish for a life that is about more than a paycheck. It is about getting connected. It is about being grateful for blessings–and sharing them with others. As poet, philosopher and artist Kahlil Gibran wrote, “Beauty is not in the face; Beauty is a light in the heart.”

BEAUTY DOESN’T COME FROM A BOTTLE

No matter what the marketers may try to make us believe, a SpaGirl knows that true beauty can’t be bought in a store. Beauty comes from kindness, reverence and knowing not to take yourself too seriously. Sure, glowing skin and a rockin’ haircut can bring out your inner diva. But remember that the path to true beauty is not only the external you but the eternally beautiful you that beats just below the surface. So next time you’re pampering yourself silly at home or at a spa, take a moment to tap into your inner SpaGirl–she’s got it going on!

DIRECTORY LISTINGS

ArizonaSpaGirls.com offers a dynamic, comprehensive guide to Arizona’s ever-evolving health, wellness and beauty facilities. Our directory listings are free so that we can offer our growing user base honest-to-goodness, unbiased information unavailable anywhere else. Listings are free to established health and beauty facilities located in Arizona including resort spas, club spas, day spas, med spas, destination spas, full-service salons, hair salons, nail salons and fitness facilities. We also list specialized service providers located in Arizona including tanning, fitness, hair removal, holistic treatments, makeup artistry, skincare and massage. We reserve the right to remove a facility from our database for any reason.

SPA AND SALON REVIEWS

Spa and salon facilities may request that an Arizona SpaGirls representative visit their establishment and review a gratis service. Reviews are typically posted two to three weeks after the appointment. An Arizona SpaGirls representative will (but is not obligated to) contact the facility when the review is posted. Because we would never bash a facility, we reserve the right to not post a review in cases where a service was under par. All facilities have permission to reprint, post, advertise and publicize their review as long as a link or credit is given to ArizonaSpaGirls.com.

Drop Us a Line any time to submit a story idea or listing or to invite a SpaGirl representative to visit your facility!
